Webinar: Person-Centered Language — A Step Towards Equity and Inclusion in Service Delivery Register for Parenting Journey's Person-Centered Language: A Step Towards Equity and Inclusion in Service Delivery webinar When: Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m. Where: On your computer -- see registration confirmation email for webinar details. Language and the words we use have power. In our field there are many common terms, phrases, and labels we may use to describe the people we serve. Unfortunately, this language often comes with an unintended projected message about a person's value, strengths and weaknesses, and even eligibility to receive or partake in a needed service. Shifting our language to speak about individuals and families in a strengths-based and person first way can not only strengthen the relationship between the person seeking services and the service provider, but may also increase the person's sense of self-worth and confidence; leading to more motivation, engagement in services, and positive outcomes. This webinar will identify the commonly used language across the human service sector as it relates to mental health, substance use, and behavior, then examines alternative person-first language that promotes dignity, equity, and inclusion within service delivery. Objectives Identify commonly used language that may perpetuate stigmatization across the human service sector Explore alternative strength-based person-first language Learn strategies to incorporate into your practice Name* First Last Job Title*Organization*Email* Phone*Which Parenting Journey trainings have you participated in.*Parenting Journey IParenting Journey IIParenting Journey for FathersParenting in AmericaParenting in Recovery (formerly Sober Parenting Journey)Parenting Journey CommunityI have not attended a Parenting Journey training yetPlease select all that apply.
