Massachusetts legislature includes funding for PJ groups in state budget!
Last week, the Massachusetts House and Senate passed the Conference Committee budget and sent it to Governor Charlie Baker. Thanks to your advocacy, lawmakers included critical funding to support Parenting Journey’s parent groups in the state budget!
We’re incredibly grateful to state Representative Jim O’Day, who passionately fought to see this funding included in the House budget proposal and ultimately in the Conference Committee. As a social worker himself, Rep. O’Day understands the difference that programs like ours can make for families and communities and we thank him for so effectively conveying that to his colleagues.
We also appreciate state Senator Joe Boncore who helped us build on the momentum we gained in the House by sponsoring an amendment for Parenting Journey in the Senate budget.
As a proud member of the Somerville community, we’d also like to thank our local legislators — Rep. Mike Connolly and Sen. Pat Jehlen — for cosponsoring these funding amendments.
This was truly a team effort that wouldn’t have been possible without advocates like you contacting their legislators to show support and help us secure co-sponsors.
You spoke out and our elected officials stood up for families. Now, take the next step by signing our thank you card to show them how much we appreciate their support!
Thank you for standing with parents and families!
