Measuring Impact: Evaluation Study to Launch in September
For more than 30 years, Parenting Journey has been focused on helping parents build stronger families by developing the inner strengths, life skills, and networks of resources they need to succeed. We don’t just say that our parent-development programs are successful, we back it up with evidence-informed, proven results. Independent program evaluation completed by the Institute of Community Health (ICH), a nationally recognized and widely respected research collaborative, has shown statistically significant improvements in parents and caregivers who have completed the Parenting Journey. The results offer solid evidence of the success of our innovative approach. Graduates of our programs report:
- A positive change in their relationships with other people in general (90%).
- A transition from negative feelings to positive feelings about life and themselves (86%).
- A positive change in their relationship with their children (86%).
- An ability to freely communicate accomplishments resulting from their participation in the program (77%).
In September, in collaboration with ICH and ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services, Parenting Journey will take the next step in project evaluation as we undergo a quasi-experimental evaluation project. Over the course of the 12-week program, we will collect data from active group participants and a control group. In total, over 200 parents and caregivers will participate in this study.
The Parenting Journey program will be rated as to the rigor of our study methodology, the impact of the program, program fidelity, and conceptual framework. Our ultimate goal of have Parenting Journey included on SAMHSA’s national registry of evidence-based programs and practices. We look forward to sharing the results of this study with you. Stay tuned for more information in the coming months!
